| Precision Slitting: Helping to Maximize Customer Productivity
The Miller Company has invested in slitting technology that assures our customers smooth running coils and reels with resultant high productivity.
Tight strip-width tolerances required to feed through the high speed presses of today are obtained by the use of true, sharp knives and precision setups using solid sets of knives and precision metal spacers.
The Miller Company’s slitters can slit gauges down to .003 inches and widths from 25 inches to .187 inches. Critical characteristics that The Miller Company tightly controls are
width, camber, and slit edge stress, so that strip will not "cork screw" on itself after stamping.
The Miller Company offers strips in two forms: pancake coils and traverse wound reels.
The traverse wound reels hold up to 10 times more strip than the pancake coil, providing for longer runs between coil changes, which results in greatly increased stamping productivity.
Once it is wound, the strip is packaged carefully to ensure against damage in transit. You can be confident that the alloys you receive from The Miller Company can go directly into production and out to your customers as finished
products.
